Golf Breaks in Oxfordshire: Play Frilford Heath, Stay in Faringdon

About Frilford Heath Golf Club

Frilford Heath was founded in 1908 and is Oxfordshire's 54-hole championship golf estate, with three courses spread across 450 acres. The Red Course, originally laid out by JH Taylor, appears in Golf World's Top 200 Courses in England and has a long history of hosting elite amateur and professional competitions.

The club describes itself as a contemporary place for friends and families, and it welcomes groups, events and visiting golfers alongside its members. There is a clubhouse for food and drink when you come off the 18th, though if you would rather eat back at the inn, our two AA Rosette kitchen is waiting.

The double occupancy rate covers two people sharing, both playing a round. If one of you plays and the other would rather spend the day in Faringdon, get in touch and we will price it for you.

Getting there

Frilford Heath is roughly ten miles from The Old Crown, about twenty minutes on the A420 towards Abingdon. That makes an early tee time straightforward: breakfast in Faringdon, drive over, and you are on the first tee before the day warms up.

Faringdon itself sits between Oxford and Swindon, so the inn works well as a base if you are travelling in from further afield and want to play more than one of the three courses.
