AN EVENING WITH STEVE THOMPSON MBE

Back in September 2023, The Old Crown Coaching Inn in Faringdon hosted an extraordinary evening with Steve Thompson MBE, the renowned hooker from England's 2003 Rugby World Cup-winning team.

During the intimate and inspiring evening, guests gained insight into Steve’s journey of becoming a world-class athlete, sharing his experiences and challenge. He also discussed his fight against early-onset dementia and efforts to promote safety in the game for generations to come.

Alongside telling his compelling story within our beautiful boutique hotel setting, Steve also shared his thoughts on the then ongoing 2023 Rugby World Cup.

To make the evening even more memorable, guests were to treated to an exquisite fine dining experience curated by Head Chef Samuel Squires at The Old Crown, including black treacle chicken, lobster and venison loin.

£10 from each ticket purchased was donated to HeadOn Foundation, the charity started by Steve. £4,000 was raised for HeadOn, to support and help those living or caring for people with brain injury, early on-set dementia, mental health and other neurological problems.

WHAT THE TEAM HAVE TO SAY
